Alain’s battle

When Alain came to us, life was already an uphill battle. He was coping with substance dependency and long-term mental health challenges. Then his landlord decided he no longer wanted him in the property.

A sudden Section 21 notice left Alain terrified of losing the only stability he had. To make matters worse, the landlord began construction work while Alain was still living there, intensifying his anxiety and worsening his mental health.

That’s when the APAP team stepped in.

We immediately completed a homelessness application on his behalf, brought him into our day centre to decompress, provided food vouchers and began a search for safe, suitable private rented accommodation while preparing for the looming bailiff’s notice.

Because of this swift intervention, Alain didn’t fall through the cracks. APAP helped him access some temporary accommodation through the council – and we continued working closely with him to find a long term home that truly met his needs. We also connected him with specialist support to help him rebuild his confidence and wellbeing.

Today, Alain has a secure roof over his head, renewed stability and the space to focus on his recovery. He is thriving because – thanks to generous donations from people like you – we were able to make sure he didn’t end up on the streets.
