Anita's fear
Anita came to APAP overwhelmed and frightened. She and her seven-year-old daughter were living in a shared house, but their room was only meant for one person. She was told she would soon be evicted. With nowhere else to go, she had no choice but to stay. Every day she feared that she and her daughter could end up homeless.
With minimal support from her local authority, Anita turned to us.
We immediately began sourcing properties within the Local Housing Allowance. But options suitable for a mother and child were financially out of reach. Recognising the urgency and determined to help, we advocated directly with a letting agent, explaining Anita's situation.
The landlord agreed to reduce the rent – an exceptional act that gave Anita and her daughter a safe place to call home.
Since moving in, Anita has found a job and regained something she thought she had lost: a sense of stability. Our support meant she never had to face the trauma of becoming homeless on the streets. With your support, we can help even more people like Anita.
