Kira lost her partner and their home, but still found a way through

2021 was a tough year for Kira. It was the year she lost her partner. Struggling to cope, she ended up homeless - sleeping on friends’ sofas. But after a few months, she was asked to leave.

In the weeks that followed, Kira slept rough while in and out of hospital. Multiple health issues made it hard for her to get her life back on track.

In early 2022, Enfield’s Drug and Alcohol service, Enable, referred Kira to our Day Centre. We worked with her to understand her situation. After learning she had pre-settled status in the UK, we were able to contact Focused Living, who provided her with immediate accommodation.

After this, we continued to support Kira in finding a permanent place to rent. We arranged flat viewings and talked her through the tenancy agreements.

It’s been a long road for Kira. But we’re pleased to say that she’s now moved into her own home and has started her rehabilitation.
